          About Us

Kevin is a retired Brigadier General who served 33 years with the Minnesota National Guard. He's also a retired faculty member from the University of Minnesota. He has roots in the prairies of western Minnesota, where he performed with his Dad at dances in barns and Legion Clubs during his  teen years.  He's led  many"Midnight Choir" sessions with his soldier friends and family in Camp Ripley tin huts, Camp Taji, Iraq patios, wineries, breweries, and other back-road venues.

Barrett is a 35+ year veteran of law enforcement who is now retired from the Buffalo Police Department.  Besides "Prairie Beats", he is also a member of "Crow's Feet" - a 70's classic rock band.  Barrett plays a djembe which is a rope-tuned skin-covered goblet drum played with bare hands, originally from West Africa. According to the Bambara people in Mali, the name of the djembe comes from the saying "Anke djé, anke bé" which translates to "everyone gather together in peace" and defines the drum's purpose.

Bringing people together in peace and unity is our hope as we perform a lot of your favorite light rock and country songs from the 70s, 80s, 90s and even a few from today.
